The role

TSR Legal are proud to be working with a leading legal firm with a great reputation and offices in Newport. The legal firm is currently expanding and growing rapidly and actively seeking new talented Litigation Solicitor / CILEx NQ + to join their specialist Covid Inquiry team in Newport.

Whilst this role will predominantly require you to work on the Covid-19 UK Public Inquiry, you will also be required to assist the department with tasks on other matters as may be necessary.

From time to time, you will have the opportunity to undertake visits to clients across primarily Wales, however occasionally the wider UK for the purpose of the Covid-19 UK Public Inquiry. You will also attend meetings and/or conferences and/or hearings at outside working hours for the purposes of the Covid-19 UK Public Inquiry.

About you

• Be knowledgeable, professional and confident approach to clients, in order to convey a true understanding of the client’s needs and maintain their confidence.
• Have proven ability to manage your own caseload. To ensure that all client work is progressed expeditiously and to provide a profitable contribution to the work of the Department and Firm.
• Have the ability to maintain excellent working relationships with not only the other personnel within the firm, but with external institutions and organisations.
• Have a strong interest in at least one relevant area of law which you have or would like to develop an expertise in; Public Law, Claims against Public Authorities or Inquests/Inquiries.
• Show motivation for and a commitment to working in a mixed legal aid/private practice.
• Have experience of working on publicly funded caseload
• Have experience of using case management, document management and time recording systems.
• Show a proven ability to conduct own advocacy where appropriate
