Salaried First-tier Tribunal Judge

The Judicial Appointment Commission is recruiting 70 full-time equivalent vacancies for salaried first tier tribunal judges across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

These are expected to be across four Chambers: Health Education and Social Care (HESC), Property, Immigration and Asylum, and Social Entitlement. Salaried part-time work may be available at a minimum of 50%.

The Property Chamber and the Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) jurisdiction (part of the HESC Chamber) require candidates with relevant legal expertise applicable to the type of cases dealt with by these Chambers.

Salary

The salary is £118,237  a year. In addition, post-holders in London receive a £2,000 salary lead and £2,000 London allowance.

Who can apply?

Applications are invited from solicitors qualified in England and Wales or Scotland, barristers in England and Wales or Northern Ireland, advocates in Scotland, and Fellows of the Chartered institute of Legal Executives. Candidates must have 5 years post qualification legal experience and are expected to have at least 30 sitting days as a judge or in a quasi-judicial capacity.
