Commercial Property Solicitor

  • Location: Newport
  • Salary: Up to £55,000 (DOE)
  • Working Arrangement: Hybrid (initial on-site expectation)

About the Role

A well-established and growing South Wales firm is looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Property Solicitor to join its busy Commercial team in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who enjoys handling matters end-to-end, delivering a high standard of client service, and playing an active role in the continued development of a successful commercial offering.

You’ll manage your own caseload with a strong degree of autonomy, while also working closely with senior members of the team and supporting the wider department’s reputation and growth.

The role will involve:

  • Managing a varied caseload of commercial property sale and purchase matters
  • Reviewing and investigating title documentation
  • Drafting and negotiating legal documentation and correspondence
  • Liaising with clients and third parties, progressing matters efficiently and proactively
  • Undertaking searches and dealing with Land Registry applications
  • Handling exchange and completion, including financial and transactional requirements
  • Submitting relevant tax filings (including LTT/SDLT) and completing registrations
  • Ensuring excellent client communication, including advising on progress and costs
  • Maintaining accurate time recording and billing, with responsibility for credit control on your matters
  • Supervising and supporting support staff where applicable
  • Supporting marketing and business development activity to promote the department and firm

What We’re Looking For

You will be:

  • A qualified Solicitor (admitted to the roll)
  • Ideally 2+ years’ experience within a Commercial Property team (pre or post qualification considered)
  • Confident running sale and purchase files independently
  • Commercially aware, organised, and able to prioritise effectively
  • Strong in written and verbal communication with a professional client-focused approach
  • Comfortable working with IT systems and document production tools

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience of drafting or supporting commercial/corporate transactional documents
  • Exposure to due diligence on corporate/commercial sales and purchases
  • Familiarity with case management and time recording systems

What You’ll Get in Return

  • Competitive salary up to £55,000 (DOE)
  • A supportive and professional team environment
  • Hybrid working (following an initial settling-in period on site)
  • High quality work with autonomy and responsibility
  • Long-term progression opportunity within a growing commercial department
