About the Role

TSR Legal is working with a well-established South Wales law firm that is looking to appoint a Newly Qualified Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join its Swansea office.

This is an excellent opportunity for an NQ Solicitor who has gained experience in Clinical Negligence or Personal Injury during their training contract, paralegal work or previous legal employment.

The successful candidate will join an experienced team handling a varied caseload of claimant Clinical Negligence matters. You will receive support and supervision from senior lawyers while being encouraged to take increasing responsibility for your own files and client relationships.

Applications are welcomed from candidates qualifying in 2026, as well as recently qualified Solicitors looking to develop a long-term career in claimant Clinical Negligence.

The firm is an established regional practice with a strong presence across South Wales and a reputation for providing approachable, practical and high-quality legal advice.

Its Clinical Negligence team represents individuals and families who have suffered injury or loss as a result of medical treatment. The department handles a broad range of matters, from initial investigation through to settlement or trial.

The firm offers a supportive environment where junior Solicitors are given the opportunity to build their technical knowledge, develop direct client contact and progress within a specialist department.

The role will involve:

  • Assisting with and managing a caseload of claimant Clinical Negligence matters
  • Taking initial instructions from clients and assessing potential claims
  • Reviewing medical records and preparing chronologies
  • Identifying liability, causation and quantum issues
  • Drafting correspondence, witness statements and legal documents
  • Instructing medical experts, counsel and other professional advisers
  • Assisting with Letters of Notification and Letters of Claim
  • Supporting disclosure and evidence-gathering exercises
  • Advising clients throughout the claims process
  • Negotiating with defendants and insurers
  • Assisting with settlement discussions, mediations and hearings
  • Maintaining accurate and organised case files
  • Working closely with senior Solicitors on complex and high-value claims
  • Participating in networking and business development activities

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Be a Newly Qualified Solicitor or due to qualify shortly
  • Have completed a seat or gained previous experience in Clinical Negligence or claimant Personal Injury
  • Demonstrate a genuine interest in developing a career in Clinical Negligence
  • Have strong drafting, research and analytical skills
  • Be able to review detailed medical and legal evidence
  • Communicate clearly and sensitively with clients
  • Have excellent organisational and case management skills
  • Be able to manage competing deadlines and priorities
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Demonstrate a professional, empathetic and commercially aware approach
