The Legal Wales Foundation is delighted to announce that the 2025 Legal Wales Conference and Dinner will be hosted at Bangor University on Friday 10 October 2025.
After the incredible success of the 22nd Annual Legal Wales Conference and Dinner, hosted for the first time in West Wales – with a record-breaking attendance of over 150 delegates from across the Welsh legal profession, this year’s event is set to be even bigger, with our keynote speakers now announced.
From legal professionals in private practice, in-house and the bar in Wales, VIPs, members of the judiciary and representatives from the Welsh and UK governments, academics, students and those who support the legal sector, this unmissable one-day conference and evening dinner is the highlight of the Welsh legal event calendar.
The host – the Legal Wales Foundation – is proud to report another impressive speaker line-up – a unique mix of keynotes and breakout panel speakers and presenters.
Celebrating significant anniversaries
This year’s Conference celebrates several significant anniversaries.
Our hosts, Bangor University celebrate twenty years of teaching law. Enlli Thomas, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University, who will join us at the Conference and Dinner, said:
“Hosting the Legal Wales Conference at Bangor University is an honour — a moment to celebrate the strength of Welsh legal tradition and to inspire the next generation of legal minds, as well as current lawyers.
“We are especially proud to host the event as we are celebrating 20 years of law at Bangor this year. Our law department stands as a testament to the power of education, justice, and dedication. We are proud to celebrate our achievements at the Legal Wales Conference, a reflection of our growing influence on legal practices in North Wales, and Wales.”
The Law Society of England and Wales celebrates it’s 200th anniversary this year. Mark Evans, the current Vice-President and who represents North Wales and Cheshire on the Council of the Law Society will become the 181st President this October and will be a keynote speaker to celebrate this anniversary.
There will also be sessions celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Law Commission of Wales and England, with the Chair of the Commission Sir Peter Fraser, and the 10th anniversary of Tribiwnlys y Gymraeg (Welsh Language Tribunal) with the President, Betsan Criddle KC.

The Legal Wales Conference provides a platform for significant contributions to the continuing dialogue on constitutional and legal developments in Wales, and the future shape of the profession. Legal Wales Conference x Penrhyn Park Run
Come join the legal profession in Wales the morning after the Legal Wales Conference and dinner for a 5k – whatever your pace – in the beautiful grounds of Castell Penrhyn, Bangor (and, more importantly, a coffee and a cake afterwards!).
We’ll be joining an organised Parkrun, described as ‘a really good bucket list kind of Parkrun’, with the route consisting of two big loops and two smaller loops around the castle.
The Legal Wales Parkrun organisers are Mark Evans, who will be President of The Law Society of England and Wales at the time of the conference (and founder of Legal Runner) and Legal Wales Programme Committee member and Partner at Blake Morgan LLP, Tomos Lewis. Both Mark and Tomos encourage runners (or walkers) of all kinds to join the Legal Runners group on Saturday 11 October.
Where?
Castell Penrhyn Castle, Bangor, LL57 4HT (a 5 minute drive from the Conference venue). Further details here.
When?
The Parkrun starts at 9:00am Saturday 11th October 2025.
The route
Described as ‘a really good bucket list kind of Parkrun’, the route consists of two big loops and two smaller loops around the castle. The big loop heads off down the main drive then swings right along a track that runs up to the walled garden. From there, stay on the track which runs up past the brick stable and along to the main castle entrance.
The small loop swings right at the main castle entrance, down past the walled garden then up past the brick stable and along to the main castle entrance and the finish. Each loop is completed twice.
Refuel at the café
Post-run, you can reward yourself in the café and enjoy coffee and a cake or a bite of breakfast to refuel – and catch up after what will be another inspiring Legal Wales conference and dinner.
Further details
If you would like to join the Parkrun or require any further information, please contact either Tomos Lewis (tomos.lewis@blakemorgan.co.uk) or Mark Evans (mark.evans@law.ac.uk).
