The latest episode of the legal podcast series Empowering Law Firm Leaders is out now and explores how law firms can unlock the power of their data to become more competitive and future-ready.

Host Amy Bruce, Osprey Approach Legal Software, is joined by Graham Moore, founder and managing director of Katchr.

With over 35 years’ experience in legal technology and business transformation, Graham discusses the behaviours, mindsets, and tools that set successful firms apart, and explains how to benchmark analytical maturity to build a truly data-driven culture.

This latest conversation includes:

  • The four stages of analytical maturity
  • How to build trust in your data
  • The KPIs that matter—and why they should be unique to your firm
  • The role of leadership in driving a data strategy
  • How to get the most from your legal tech investment

Graham believes there are three pillars on which to run a successful modern law firm: embracing the business of law, empowering people across all areas of the business, and making better use of the data firms already hold. He explains:

“Most firms are just scraping the surface. Data-driven decision-making is always going to be more effective than relying on hunches.”

Graham also outlines how to progress through the four stages of analytical maturity – descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive, which is the ‘Holy Grail’ of analytics where systems recommend actions to achieve business goals.

However, he warns that success depends not just on technology, but also on building trust in the underlying data, and tells Amy: “If they don’t trust the data, they’re never going to trust the outcomes.”
