Gamlins Law has helped secure a £25.6 million lump sum settlement for a claimant who suffered profound and permanent physical and cognitive disabilities following an incident at work resulting in premature birth.
The settlement, which was approved by the High Court, is understood to be one of the largest lump sum settlements ever approved in a negligence claim.
The claimant was represented by north Wales law firm Gamlins Law, which instructed Will Waldron KC and Tony Goff of Exchange Chambers.
The case involved complex issues around liability and the claimant’s lifelong needs, including specialist care, therapies, equipment, accommodation and wider support. The award will provide long-term financial security and ensure the claimant has access to the support required throughout their lifetime.
For the claimant’s family, the settlement brings an important degree of certainty after many years of uncertainty, legal process and personal difficulty. While no amount of compensation can change what happened, the settlement will make a significant difference to the claimant’s quality of life and future care.
