The current president of the Law Society of England & Wales – Mark Evans – has been announced as the next CEO for LawCare.
LawCare – the charity that promotes and supports the mental health and wellbeing in the legal profession – explained that its long-standing CEO, Elizabeth Rimmer, will leave LawCare at the end of June. Trish McLellan, LawCare’s Director of Engagement, will step in as Interim CEO from 1 July until Mark takes the reins from 2 November 2026.
Mark has been a vocal and active ambassador for mental health within the legal profession and for LawCare over the years – most notably with the formation of Legal Runners – a network of informal, peer-led running groups across Wales and England that promote wellbeing and mental health through exercise and community.
Emma Williams, Chair of the Board of Trustees at LawCare, commented on Trish’s interim appointment:
“We’re delighted that Trish will be leading LawCare as Interim CEO. She knows the organisation incredibly well and has the full support of the Board. LawCare’s work will continue as usual over the coming months. We’re looking forward to welcoming Mark in November, but until then we’re in very safe hands with Trish and the team.”
Mark hails from North Wales, is a former president and current council member of Cheshire & North Wales Law Society and was elected Junior Vice President of The Law Society in 2024.
