Newfields, the Wales-grown national business and sports immigration law firm, has announced a series of promotions that reflect the firm’s continued growth, sector leadership, and commitment to talent development.
Head of the firm’s Business Immigration Team, Samuel Bass has been promoted to Partner, joining Shahnaz Nowaparast and Glyn Lloyd, founder of Newfields, to lead the growing firm.
Commenting on the promotion, Glyn Lloyd, Partner and Founder, said:
“I am delighted to announce Sam’s promotion to Partner at Newfields. As Head of our Business Immigration Team, Sam has been instrumental in building the firm’s corporate immigration offerings.
“His expertise and strategic insight have earned the confidence of clients across multiple sectors, from domestic to global employers headquartered inside and outside the UK. This promotion recognises not only his exceptional legal ability but also his integrity, judgement and the high regard in which he is held by colleagues and clients alike.”
Reflecting on the announcement, new Partner, Samuel Bass said:
“I’m honoured by the opportunity to step up as a Partner. It’s far more than a title — it’s a shared commitment to excellence, growth, and delivering the very best for our clients and the business.
“I’m deeply grateful to the firm for this incredible vote of confidence, and to the many people who’ve helped me get here — mentors past and present, colleagues, clients, and collaborators. I’m excited for the journey ahead: the challenges, the opportunities, and the chance to help shape what comes next.“
Also announced were two further promotions within the team: Chloe Read and Emily Davis have both been promoted to Deputy Team Leaders.
Glyn added:
“These roles recognise Chloe and Emily’s contribution to their respective sectors, their commitment to mentoring others, and their part in building the collaborative culture at the firm.”
National recognition and growth
The promotions follow a highly successful year for Newfields. In June, the firm won two Legal News Wales Awards – the Client Experience Award, and Legal Entrepreneur of the Year, awarded to Glyn Lloyd.
The firm was also recently named a Finalist in two categories at the 2025 Sport Business Awards, further recognising its sector-leading position in sports immigration law.
