Freelance Welsh Solicitor SQE Examiner

Are you interested in becoming a Welsh Solicitor Examiner for the SQE?

We are looking for experienced solicitors who are fluent in speaking Welsh and fluent in writing in Welsh to join our pool of SQE2 examiners to assess the Welsh SQE2 live oral advocacy skills assessments and to mark the Welsh SQE2 written assessments and Attendance Note.

We are also looking for experienced solicitors who are fluent in speaking Welsh and fluent in writing in Welsh to undertake a more specific question review role for both SQE1 and SQE2.

Experience

Whilst the SQE2 oral assessments take place in two contexts: Dispute Resolution and Criminal Litigation, applicants need not have a litigation background as full training will be given.

The written skills assessments are set in the context of Dispute Resolution, Criminal Litigation, Property, Wills and Probate and Business. We require applicants to have subject matter expertise in these areas.

We are particularly looking for solicitors (from all legal disciplines) who are able to demonstrate that they are familiar with the skills and knowledge required of a newly qualified solicitor.

Applications

Once we have received your expressions of interest to become a Welsh SQE2 examiner (either a Welsh assessor and/or Welsh marker), or SQE1 question reviewer, we will provide further information and ask you to upload an up-to-date CV.

The process of selecting our SQE2 examiners includes attendance at an online recruitment event.  We hold online recruitment events at regular intervals during the year and you will be asked to indicate your availability to attend an event if you have expressed an interest in becoming a Welsh SQE2 examiner.  The online selection day includes a slide presentation on SQE2 assessment methodology and criteria, and the opportunity to practise some assessment marking.  There will be no remuneration or expenses payable for attendance at an online selection day.
