Legal News Wales is delighted to announce a new community partnership with Redkite Solicitors. Redkite isn’t simply sharing its own growth story; the firm wants to contribute, collaborate and help build a more connected, dynamic legal environment in the region.
Through this partnership, Redkite plans to support initiatives highlighting top regional talent, innovation, and the very real value of legal services in the heart of communities in Wales – from its roots in West Wales to its new Swansea city centre office and across its offices in Cardiff and throughout South Wales and into England.
As Redkite’s CEO Neil Walker explained, the firm is now firmly embedded in the Welsh legal ecosystem — and feels it’s the right moment to take a more outward-facing role. For Partner and head of Commercial Services Paul James, the partnership represents a chance to share Redkite’s journey, its values and its ambitions.
Together with Legal News Wales, they hope to shed light on what regional legal firms can offer: community-rooted expertise, genuine client relationships, a strong firm culture and a collaborative spirit.
This announcement coincides with the recent opening of Redkite’s new city-centre office in Swansea — a tangible symbol of the firm’s commitment to growth, regional presence and community investment.
Why the Swansea office — and why now?
Neil said:
“It’s about organic growth. We already have a strong footprint across South Wales, and now we want to focus on developing our services to truly meet the wider needs of our clients and attract the right people to our business.”
Redkite engaged its own Swansea teams in the location search, so staff could weigh in on the decision. He explained that Redkite has taken a bold approach, choosing to locate right in the heart of Swansea, taking the opportunity to locate in new Grade A office accommodation, close to great amenities – providing the space and opportunity for colleagues in Swansea and across the firm to collaborate. This choice of vibrant location reflects the forward-thinking law-firm culture rooted in the heart of communities.
Once the team saw the available office and understood the opportunities, their enthusiasm grew. According to Neil, the move “signals our commitment to Swansea — across all service lines, but especially commercial legal services.” It was about making a statement of intent. He added:
“Swansea has a lot going on: redevelopment, growth, ambition — and we want to be part of it, right from the start.”
A space that reflects who Redkite is
Paul James explained that the decision to create a new office in the heart of Swansea was to cover their main aim. He told Legal News:
“For me, this is to have an office that reflects who we are: accessible, innovative, forward-thinking — embedded in the communities we serve.”
He sees the new Swansea office as more than just bricks and mortar; it embodies the firm’s ambition and trajectory. As a top 200 law firm, Redkite wants its physical presence to reflect the scale and seriousness of what it does.
Paul emphasised that the city-centre location supports connectivity. Swansea can serve as a ‘commercial hub’ — not only for West Wales clients, but as a place where colleagues from Cardiff, Carmarthen or elsewhere can come together. The geography and transport links make it easier to collaborate, meet clients, or even just share lunch after meetings — a small but important cultural signal.
Vision for the commercial teams, and beyond
Redkite plans to use Swansea as a key commercial hub, with Cardiff remaining central too. Though commercial services will be concentrated there, the firm will still serve clients across its network: from Pembrokeshire to Cardiff and beyond.
According to Neil, the broader client base often includes owner-managed and smaller businesses — clients who value more than just transactional legal services. Redkite offers full-service capability: commercial, corporate, property, employment, dispute resolution — even private-client work when needed.
Paul added that what sets Redkite apart is not just legal expertise, but proximity to clients: they “understand you and your business,” because in many cases, they’ve walked in similar shoes. Add to that high-quality legal service, honest and proportionate advice (rather than over-legalistic responses), and a strong team culture — “nice people,” no big egos, teams aligned around client needs — and you get what he describes as their real USP.
As Neil noted, this approach works: new recruits frequently comment on how welcoming and supportive the firm is. That culture, they say, is what helps Redkite deliver a different calibre of service.
Looking ahead: Reflection on 2025, ambitions for 2026
Neil reflected that 2025 has been a turning point: Redkite is now recognised as a top-200 law firm, with strong organic growth, especially in commercial teams and personal injury. The firm has also invested heavily in defining its employee value proposition — what it offers to current and prospective staff.
He believes 2026 will be all about building on that momentum. As people increasingly recognise “what Redkite stands for,” the firm hopes to attract even more top talent — and continue growing.
Paul framed it simply but powerfully: the firm’s ‘North Star’ is client need. Their ambition isn’t just to draft good contracts, but to understand clients beyond the immediate legal issue — their business, their growth, their challenges — and help them navigate both.
Why partner with Legal News Wales — and why now?
Neil Walker, CEO said:
“We’ve been focused — busy achieving scale. But now, we are a significant player in the Welsh legal market. It feels like the right time to step out, share what we do, and contribute meaningfully to the sector. Legal News Wales brings together different firms, insights, and ideas — and we have a lot to contribute.”
Paul James, Partner & Head of Commercial Services, added:
“It’s also about pride and passion. Hard work has paid off, and we’ve built something special. But we haven’t always shouted about it. Now is the time to say: yes — we are here, we are real players, we have something to offer. We are collaborative, approachable, and committed to delivering value. Working with Legal News Wales helps us tell that story.”
What this means for the Welsh legal sector
With its new Swansea office acting as a central hub, Redkite is positioning itself not simply as a regional law firm, but as a dynamic, growth-oriented business with national ambition — one that values community roots, flexible working, and quality. By partnering with Legal News Wales, the firm is also signalling openness, willingness to engage, and readiness to contribute to broader sector discourse.
This move could encourage other firms to re-evaluate how they balance regional presence, talent recruitment, firm culture and client service — especially in a changing legal market.
