Robert Williams, a Partner at GHP Legal, has been appointed as the new President of Cheshire and North Wales Law Society for 2025 / 2026.
Robert is the Head of the Civil Litigation, Personal Injury and Dispute Resolution team at the Wrexham head office of GHP Legal and joined GHP Legal in 1999, and became a Partner in 2002. He is the third partner from his firm to hold the post for the regional law society. Robert follows in the footsteps of Gethin Davies, one of the firm’s founders, and former Senior Partner, Peter Butler.
On his new appointment for the next 12 months, Robert said:
“I am proud to be the local President in the same year that Mark Evans of the University of Law becomes the first National President of the Law Society to hail from Wales.
“This year is also the 200th anniversary of the Law Society of England and Wales and it is 110 years since my Taid left school in Llandudno Junction to become an office junior at Bone & Payne in Colwyn Bay.”
Robert, who lives in Gresford with his GP wife and their two children, is a keen cyclist, tennis player, hill walker and Wrexham FC supporter. A former Governor of All Saints School in Gresford, he is also a Trustee of the Gresford War Memorial Trust, and a Director of Wrexham CAB and the Groundwork North Wales Trust.
In April 2025, GHP Legal, one of the largest independent law firms in the region, with offices in Wrexham, Llangollen and Oswestry, celebrated its 55th anniversary.
